The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. – Proverbs 13:4
3 Things About Laziness:
1.The opposite of laziness is not working too hard.
2. Laziness is not a personality trait.
3. Laziness is not doing what you are supposed to do.
God’s blessing cannot be an excuse to be lazy. That God is with you at the working place does not mean you should go late. Christians need to work harder because they ought to serve God with what He has blessed them with.
3 Things that the Bible says about laziness:
- A lazy man begins but he does not fulfill.
A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. Proverbs 19:24
We have good ideas, but we do not bring it to fulfillment.
This is a Christian virtue – to begin something, have the strength and fulfill it.
It is easy to start. You say you want to help, but you don’t have the character to finish it.
Do you have books you have only read halfway? If you continue like that, you will get a reputation in heaven and on earth that we are not reliable. The lazy man starts all right, but gives up when things get tough.
It is always easy to begin, and after a while you get tired, and that is when we understand who you really are.
God, help me to calculate before beginning. Let everyone know that I do not only begin, but that I can complete the things I set my hands to.
The lazy man begins but he does not finish.
2. A lazy man does not get out of bed.
Proverbs 26:14 The door turns on its hinges— as does the lazy person on his bed.
And his turning upon his bed stops him from achieving his desires.
We should not give in to our flesh and think that it would still be okay. There is time for rest but not today.
I went by the field of the lazy man,
And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding;
And there it was, all overgrown with thorns;
Its surface was covered with nettles;
Its stone wall was broken down. When I saw it, I considered it well;
I looked on it and received instruction:
A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to rest;
So shall your poverty come like a prowler,
And your need like an armed man.
There are times you need someone to shake you off from your bed. If you want to get what you dream about, you need to pull your life together. You need to get going.
Laziness brings proverty.
Alot of us think that things will get well by itself. But we must do something.
Life consists of all the choices that we make. It is in our power to develop personal discipline.
Proverbs 26:13 – The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion on the road! Yes, I’m sure there’s a lion out there!”
You need a friend who can pull you up. You will remind you of your dream. Who will tell you, it is time to do something, it is time to set sail, its time to go, and God will be with you!
A laziness man always thinks he will do it tomorrow.
3. A lazy man thinks he is wiser than 7 men, and therefore loses his hunger for God.
The lazy one is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who make sense. Proverbs 26:16
A sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.
Choose not to be the lazy man that has nothing, but be diligent.
Pray: Lord, I want to be like you. I want your word to change me.
Step by step, we will be that man who desires and has.
Gradually, we will be rich in our ability and talents; yes we know God blesses, but we need to do what I can.
I can be that man who is rich- rich in the Lord, rich in ability, rich in resources.
Everyone of us can be that diligent man.
