“Sacrifice is the essential oil-changing for the engine of life.”
– Ike Amadi, (Do Something! p. 30)
If you didn’t know, the chapters of my book, Do Something!, are uniquely organized so that every chapter stems from each letter of the phrase, Do Something!
We officially kicked off the Do Something! campaign in April, under the umbrella of Do Something Club, piloting in Abuja, Nigeria. As this is the third month since then, our letter of focus is S, for Sacrifice.
Recently I have had to re-read my book, especially the chapter on sacrifice. It reminded me that to be great tomorrow, I’ll have to give up part of my present enjoyments.
As a result, I have learned to prioritize. I no longer deliberate over activities that I am naturally inclined to engage, preferring these days to make a sacrifice. I now consider my activities with an eye focused on my goals for the year, which has meant I am now better able to choose the one that will have more impact on my future.
“You have to keep giving up something daily. The moment you stop sacrificing, you become stagnant in your progress.”
(Do Something! p. 28)
Cheers to a life of sacrifice!
