How can we always lead?
Blessing Okoro has been sharing tips on leadership on her blog blessingshares.wordpress.com, which has made me turn my radar on this all important aspect of personal growth and development.
I have had opportunity to lead at several points in my life. Looking at them, I have seen that one value that helped me attain such is ‘OWNERSHIP.’ I always took immediate responsibility wherever I found myself, be it at the office, in church, or in school. I owned it. It was never ‘their’ thing, but ‘my’ thing. When a man or woman shows ownership values, he or she will be automatically spotted and appointed a leader.
The mistake people often make is that they wait for the appointment before seeing themselves as leaders. But friend, if you do not already see yourself as a leader wherever you are, no one will give you any responsibility to handle. Own that work, own that office. Own that church. How will you handle it if it were your own? Start handling it the same way. You’ll find your vocab will change from, ‘you, your, their, ‘ to ‘we, our.’
HILTON values summarised it all:
That’s it. Ownership.
This is a special thank you to everyone who have owned our theLAFamily program. God bless you!
Keep owning, keep standing out!
