“The riffraff among the people had a craving and soon they had the People of Israel whining, “Why can’t we have meat? We ate fish in Egypt—and got it free!—to say nothing of the cucumbers and melons, the leeks and onions and garlic. But nothing tastes good out here; all we get is manna, manna, manna.” – Numbers 11:4-6
I got a picture from the story of the people of Israelites in the Wilderness. They always looked on to their past when they were in Egypt and kept comparing it with their present situation while they were in the wilderness. They weren’t doing this to praise and glorify the name of Jehovah but they did it in grumbling to mock God’s Glory.
At moments where they were faced with trials or they needed something they didn’t have, they would say they preferred how they led their lives back in Egypt than how they are now; even though they were slaves and were suffering in Egypt but they are now free from slavery, and could live in freedom in the Wilderness.
THIS RELATES TO CHRISTIANS OF THIS GENERATION. In this context, Egypt is our Old Life in the world and the Wilderness is Our New Life in Christ while Canaan is our Eternal Life(Heaven)- the Land of Milk and Honey. Let’s not be like the people of Israel who COMPLAIN and COMPLAIN for more from God or grumble that God has not done enough but Lets be people who know the worth of all what God has done for us- bringing us from our old life into this new life; releasing us from the Hands of the devil, from our addictions, from our slavery and giving us freedom. Let’s be people who value what God is doing for us. Let’s be Christians whose past is not something we wish to go back to because we are grateful for what God has done.
Lets KEEP MOVING IN THIS WILDERNESS UNTIL WE GET to OUR PROMISED LAND!
Amen. Be blessed
