The Prosperous Way

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law does he meditate day and night. And he shall be like the tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth his fruit in his season, his leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he does shall prosper.”
– Psalm 1:3

Prosperity is not man’s idea, it is God’s idea, in fact it is more than an idea, it is His will! It is what He is committed to. It’s God’s will that we rise up! God is not offended when we make progress, He isn’t offended when we desire to make progress, he is not offended when you desire the good things he has promised you, it’s only the religious folks that are offended! God doesn’t want you to live a down and out life, he doesn’t want you to barely get by, He doesn’t want you to barely make it, and He doesn’t want things to be upside down in your life. He wants things to be well with you, it’s his desire that you excel, be successful and prosperous!!!

Prosperity according to the dictionary is a successful, flourishing and thriving situation especially in finances.

“Beloved, I desire above all things that you will prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers” 3 John vs 2

See? It’s actually an act of love! Oh! Please, don’t get me started on love. John was speaking by the spirit of God. That tells me that it is a strong desire on God’s heart that man should prosper! So, we are not trying to cajole God, or twist his arm or make him do it. He already desired, decided and established it even before you & I came across that passage! That’s to tell you that God came up with it first! God patented it!

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are my ways your ways” -Isaiah 55: 8
Many people quote this verse with the sense that “well, too bad for us, God is just so much better” and religion has made it sound like a good thing, something that cannot be changed. God’s ways are just higher than your ways and that is the way it will forever be, in fact it is in humility that we say it to show that he is God. Many folks interpret it this way to suit their mediocrity.

God has expressed his thought and ways to us so that our ways can be elevated to his ways… God has said what his desires are so that as we begin to know what his thoughts are we can adjust and our ways can become like his way. Now, ignorance wants to stay in that place of excuse where they say “oh! after all I’m not like him, he thinks so much higher than I do’ but really, we have no excuse anymore, for us ‘ignorance’ is no longer bliss, in fact ignorance is never bliss. It’s never an excuse to be ignorant.

“This book of law shall not depart out of thy mouth (confessions); but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do all that is written therein: for then YOU will make your way prosperous and YOU will have good success.”

God told Joshua to sit, think, observe, and mediate on the book of law so that he can make his way prosperous. If you sit with someone long enough, you will get to know much about the person. God told Joshua to sit with his law so his spirit will be rubbed off on him. God recommended meditation for Joshua to lead 2 million stubborn people. God also told him that he was going to make his way prosperous by himself.

Many people are quick to blame God for the things that go wrong in their lives. Everything you need to be successful and prosperous is in you already; you just need to harness it by meditating on God’s word. God was with Moses, in fact Moses knew the ways of God “he made known his ways unto Moses” – psalm 103:7. When you know the ways of God, you will not just know it, you will become it.

When you spend time with the word, you are being transformed; your ways are being aligned to his ways because the word of God has power and life in itself. God is a prosperous God. Prosperity with God is not from one act of deliverance to another or from one “just in time” to another or from one emergency supply to another… God’s ideal picture of prosperity is a way of life; it’s a method of operation. God wants prosperity to you to go beyond provision of needs that come up here and there… he wants prosperity to you to be a lifestyle. Prosperity is more than just money. Prosperity is not having a lot of money in your bank account and your health or your family is upside down. If money could buy good health Steve Jobs would not be dead today…prosperity is a flourishing life!

God’s word was given to us so our ways can be elevated to his ways… stop using the lame old excuse, get responsible Christian! Get into the word of God and begin to think, see, talk and act like your Father.

We have to take the responsibility of meditating on the word of God!

Meditation is keeping God’s word on your mind using the function called memory. A good example for this will be a goat chewing the cord. It eats in a hurry and stores it in the first stomach, when it gets to a resting place, it regurgitates what it ate, brings it back into the mouth and then takes time to chew it properly. Now, meditation can be likened to that. There, lies a process of putting the word purposely on your mind because if you don’t the devil will fill your mind with the wrong raw materials.

Meditation also means creating images in your mind on purpose. If you don’t create the right images on your mind, your mind will do it for you and it’ll feed itself with ‘junk’
A preacher once said “if you can worry, then you can meditate”. It is the same mechanism; you just might have given the devil a room to use it against you. It’s time for you to take charge as the son and daughter of God that you are and make God’s way your way.

If the book of the law could produce ‘good success and prosperity,’ how much more the finished work of redemption?

It takes your cooperation to experience God’s kind of prosperity.

Think the word, speak the word and see the word.
