23 Immanuel Kant Quotes by Dr. Frenzo

Immanuel Kant died this day, 212 years ago but his philosophy, his unique view of epistemology, ethics and reason continue to resonate with me to this day. I’ve read Plato, Aristotle and Descartes but none of them stirred me as much as Kant. I will be dedicating all my posts for the weekend to him. True immortality is that our thoughts, ideas and ideals outlive us and continue to shape the course of the world long after we are gone.

The courage to use your own understanding is what enlightenment is all about.

Never forget that only dead fish swim with the stream. Don’t go with the flow. Think for yourself. #Kant

Don’t let failures intimidate and discourage further attempts to exercise your reason and your freedom. Be Bold and Think. #Kant

The tax collector: “Do not argue–pay!”
The pastor: “Do not argue–believe!”
I say: “Question everything, Do not reduce yourself to an unthinking slave” #Kant

We find restrictions on freedom everywhere. We find limitations on thoughts everywhere. EVERYWHERE even in citadels of learning. #Kant

The monarchy, the aristocracy, the synod, the faculty, and any such concentration of power in a select few is intellectual tyranny #Kant

Question your Pastors/Imams, challenge your teachers, query your parents, probe your culture, debate the guru. Ask WHY? #Kant

A revolution may bring abt the end of a personal despotism or of avaricious tyrannical oppression, but never a true reform of thought #kant

Without a true reform of modes of thought. New prejudices will serve, in place of the old, as guide lines for the unthinking multitude.#kant

The only reasonable basis for faith is doubt #Kant

The courage to use your own understanding is what enlightenment and true education is all about. #Kant

To restrict a woman’s ability to exercise the use of her reason is to violate and to trample upon the sacred rights of the woman. #Kant #feminism

There is no such thing as darkness; only a failure to see. – Malcolm Muggeridge #Kant

We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all (wo)men are endowed with certain unalienable rights; sense, thought and the pursuit of reason. #kant

The chief end of man is the pursuit of truth #Kant

The People have a right to the Truth as they have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. – Frank Norris #Kant

Morality is not the doctrine of how we may make ourselves happy, but how we may make ourselves worthy of happiness. #Kant

If a man makes himself a worm he must not complain when he is trodden upon.  #Kant

People talk about the pursuit of happiness, they have it backwards. It’s really the happiness of pursuit. Chase your dream. Don’t say you can’t. Never give up. Think for yourself and follow your heart, therein lies real happiness. #Kant
