Today, I casually carried my Canon EOS 7D camera and decided to go for a walk to the nearby Galleria, which my friend and host in Dallas mentioned was right by the corner. Apparently, it wasn’t right by the corner and one can’t ordinarily go there on foot. The walk was long and the hot Dallas sun made it all the more engaging.
But that’s not why we are here. As I walked with my DSLR camera hanging down my neck, I observed a jeep pull up right by me, and the driver was so happy, and asked if I was into photography. Before I could say, “kinda just trying my hands on it,” he went on to narrate about how he had a fashion line and how he needed a photographer. Finally, he wrote down his number and website and I said to give him a call.
Well well; this reminded me of my encounter with Mike Omeri, DG of National Orientation Agency in Nigeria. After showing him my book, back then in 2014, he asks what course I did in university. I answered computers.
“Do you know multimedia?” He asked.
While I was still trying to figure out what aspect of multimedia he had in mind, he clarified it to mean, video editing.
“I could learn,” was my answer.
Apparently, he wanted someone with experience in that area, maybe he would have hooked me up for some good agency job.
Interesting thing is, there are jobs opportunities, but only for those who have skills.
Upon return to Russia, I decided I would gain and perfect my skills in multimedia, hence the camera and pictures and videos. And with latest encounters, it is high time I gained more skills in the area of photography.
What about you?
What is that thing you’re trying to learn which you think may add value to your life?
Don’t delay. Do something about it, now !
