‘On thine own resolve depend not at all.’
Peter had said he would not deny the master (Matthew 26:33), but when temptations came, he denied him and confirmed it with an oath.
We can’t depend on our resolutions, we can only depend on God’s promises, for they can never fail!
The bible therefore gives us a way out to “commit our ways to the Lord and our plans will succeed.’ Our resolutions will bear fruit when they are put under God’s care.So have you put all you want to do in 2014 into God’s care? Or do you plan to run in your own strength?
Why take the risk when you can put your money in God’s bank and withdraw at will.
Bank on God’s promises and see your 2014 yield maximum fruit.
How do I bank on God’s promises? By trusting wholly on them. But can one trust what he does not know?
Therefore, make that one resolution to ‘acquaint thyself now with thy Lord.’ (Job 22:21) and then you can ‘decree a thing and it shall come to pass.’ (Job 22:28)
The passage above simply means once I have drawn close to God and his words, I can then make any resolution and it will come to pass. Wow!
“In this year 2014, I will live nearer to God and his word.”
